I made some changes..

I was kind of bored with the other look, and since I'm yet to get a response from someone about getting a layout, we're stuck with this for now. I changed the colors up a bit to ones that I like better.
As for as new stuff...I've been taking finals like a mad woman. I've had 4 so far. One on Thursday, two on Friday, and one this morning. My last one can be taken at anytime on Monday in the Math Testing Center. Sounds scary. I'm horrible at math. I will be so glad when that is over, and I can go home with (almost) no worries for 5 weeks. Woohoo! I can't really think of anything new, so I guess this will be it for now. Sorry I've been kind of absent; I either have nothing to blog about or I'm just an incredibly boring person.

I feel as if this quote is somewhat appropriate for today. Don't ask why.

Thanksgiving!

Well, Thanksgiving was awesome, of course. Lots of food, family, and fun! I got to see both of my great-grandmothers, and they were so sweet and cute! First, we went to my mother's maternal grandmother's (if that makes any sense) that lives in Hackett. She is 90 years old and cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner, and it was so good. She has lots of dogs, and my brother always loves playing with them. Some are better behaved than others. Haha! We also got to learn a few interesting things about her life while we were there. I love hearing from  her.
Then we went to a friend of my great-aunt and uncle's that helps them with placing college foreign exchange students. They were the sweetest and most friendly hosts ever! They were so nice to share their home with all of us. That's 11 of us just counting my grandpa and step-grandma, mom and aunt, and all the kids. They must have been slightly crazy! But everyone behaved fairly well considering the circumstances, and they had a beautiful house. There was also lots of great food there, and I ate way too much! However, I more than burned it off the next day working at Old Navy. Yikes! Talk about a madhouse. But I survived the longest 9 hours of my life!
Sorry, no pictures! :( I'll try to take more.

Finally...

The week(end) before last was very busy, but so much fun! As you know, Friday at midnight was the premiere of the 7th Harry Potter movie. I can't wait to get started reading them, which I need to make happen soon if I'm going to be done in time. Then on Saturday, we went to see Spamalot! It was an awesome musical. Probably one of the best (of the few) that I've seen. It had some possibly "offensive" parts in it, but I loved it so much. And I want to thank my awesome roommate, Marley, again for getting the tickets for the five of us to go. That would be Me, Marley, Dylan, James, and Zach W.
I have a couple of pictures from that night, too.
Marley and I..she's wearing a scarf AND a cardigan. I've never been more proud ;)
(and it looks like she's becoming a mini-me)

Oh how I love candid pictures!

Marley and I again

Zach and Marley :)

Then on Sunday, we (we being James and myself) got to join Marley at her family Thanksgiving dinner. There was lots of great food and nice people. And her little cousins were so cute! I didn't take any pictures though! I need to get better about that. Anyway, that was a great weekend, and next I'll post about Thanksgiving.

Oh! And I almost forgot! One of the funniest things ever happened after Spamalot. After we dropped Dylan off at his cousins', we did a lip-sync/dance thing to the Spice Girls' "If You Wanna Be My Lover." What all of us loved the most was that Marley actually did it (reluctantly), and she did such a good job, and we were all very proud of her! Hehe! I've got to get a hold of that video! We recorded it via webcam on James's Mac.

Just an FYI

I'm extremely behind on posting, but once I'm back to my dorm and have my camera cord, I should have a long post or a couple of short ones..haha, we'll see.

Harry Potter!

Well, let me just say, I honestly had a great time last night/this morning waiting for hours and finally seeing the long-awaited Harry Potter movie. It was awesome, and had the most "disturbing" (I guess that's the right word) cliff-hanger. Especially for those who have not read, and have absolutely no idea what's going to happen next. I can't wait for the next movie. My goal is to read the books by then. Hopefully, I can do it. We shall see! Well, without further adieu...pictures!

I Spoke Too Soon

Well, let me just say, I hope I didn't jinx the poor thing. My brother re-broke his collar bone yesterday, and my mom called me not even 30 minutes after I made my last post with the news. It's crazy how things like that work. Proof that God is in control. He did take it much better the second time around, though, from what I hear. I just hope he heals up fast.
On another note, Harry Potter tonight!

I feel like an impostor going to see the midnight premier because I have not read any of the books. I started the first one twice, if that counts for anything. I don't know why. I just don't understand this hold it has on people. And the same goes for Twilight...what the heck?
I suppose part of it stems from the fact that I like to rebel against conformity. Haha! I'm sure that made some of you-if anyone is out there-laugh. But really, part of the reason I don't follow these trends is a matter of principle. However, I can say that I read the first Twilight book through. I'm sure I'll get around to the Harry Potter books eventually.
I'm sitting in the library right now. It's my usual hang-out spot. My 11 o'clock class got cancelled today, so I'm holding out here until lunchtime/whenever I have the nerve to go take my algebra test.

Talk to you all later,
Haley

Exciting news all around..

First off, I have found my hero! Haha!
Well, I guess I should further explain.
Okay, I have been struggling with picking a major, and when I got here I honestly was set on doing biology/premed, but then I took Intro to Cultural Anthropology and fell IN LOVE. So, I got to thinking I would really like to major in anthropology because there are several avenues you can take with that. So, I was reading my anthropology book the other day, and I read about Paul Farmer. He not only got his Ph.D. in Anthropology, but he also got his M.D. at the SAME TIME from Harvard University. I was in awe, he's like living out my dream! It was awesome, and I was so excited. And I started doing more research and found out that there are actually programs out there for Medical Anthropology. I was considering Biological because that was the closest out of the 4 subfields that I knew of, and I was still considering med school, but this is just perfect. I'm so happy! They (whoever "they" are) say it'll just come to you and you'll know what to do -of course I didn't believe it- but now I really think it's true. It's so exciting. But sorry Mom, if I'm going to live out my dream, I may have to move even further to go to school for it.

Also, an update on my brother. He is just as happy as can be. If you didn't know any better, you wouldn't know he broke his collar bone just under 2 weeks ago. Just on last Friday he was RUNNING, yes you read that right, running around and doing things like it never happened. He only wears his figure-8 brace now. It was really exciting to see because I was sooo worried about him. But he seems to be fine, and I know he'll heal up just fine and get back in to sports like it never happened. And I thank God for that!

Oh, and yesterday, Mom told me that we finally got everything moved into our new house! What a relief! But here comes the dreaded fun part: unpacking! Haha!

Well, I'm glad I got to share my good news with you guys. I'm a very happy girl right now.
Up next....dun..dun..dun...FINALS! Ahh!

We Meet Again

Well, I guess it's time to update this sweet, little unread blog once again. I read other blogs like crazy, but I never really have anything to say on my own. Poo! Let's see here, since the building of Fort PUFI, I guess you could say a lot of things have happened. I got really bogged down in homework and tests and writing papers and etc. Maybe that's why I haven't updated? :) I survived though! It was definitely a crazy time, and now I'm just waiting and riding it out until it's time for finals! Ahh, the thought really scares me! My brother broke his collar bone last Thursday, November 4. It was just pitiful, and made me want to cry! He's doing a lot better now, and is up and about like he doesn't have a sling and a figure-8 brace holding his arm up, so that's awesome. He's such a tough guy, and I'm really proud of him!
Also, we're in the middle of moving, which proves to be hard when we don't have our tough little brother to help us! And we're doing at a fast pace, so there's not really any rhyme or reason to this whole thing, which drives an OCD control freak nuts! We're going to get the bulk of it done today while I'm home, and my got movers to do the big stuff. Thank Goodness! I'm sure this is getting boring, and I don't really have any pictures to put up, so I'll end it here.
For your enjoyment, a picture of me and my sweet little roommate before my first orchestra concert.

Fort Time!

Okay, let me just say, it is pretty impressive how quickly a bad night can turn into the best night you've had in a while. I'm going to skip all the BS and skip straight to the point. James had the brilliant idea of building a fort last night. It was amazing! We were so smart, and we had our engineer, Marley, do most of the construction. We used Dylan's bed frame and mattress, which he will not be very happy with. We laughed until we cried, and just really had a whole lot of fun. So without further adieu, here is the picture proof. They speak a thousand words.

(Grody of me)

And there are so many more great ones, but I can't upload them all. Haha, it was a great time, though.

Talk to you soon, Haley

Lately...

It was sad as always when Mama dropped me off on Sunday. :( Poo, I wish weekends were longer than two days. I had a good time at home though. On Friday night, Nadia and I went to Wal-Mart and got the fixings for a cookie cake. We actually did a good job, and it was adorable! I'll try to get a picture of it uploaded soon. We stayed up until about 4 am because we had to let the cake cool so that we could ice and decorate it, and we didn't start until about 1:30 am. (Classic my family) We also played Uno with Geema and Geema's brother, Tony. Then on Saturday we had a party for Madison. It was really fun, and we watched a SCARY movie after that. Dead Silence....ahhh! Then on Sunday I just went out with my mom to find an outfit for the orchestra concert, which was yesterday, Monday. It went really well. I messed up more than I should have and my back hurt from all that sitting up straight, but I had a really good time other than that. Today was just the same ole. My group and I rushed around to finish a project for our weekly Perspectives class (it's like a first year experience group mentoring thing). Our project was to do a photo scavenger hunt. Talk about hectic, especially when you wait until the last minute. But then our teacher was really sweet and took us to a new frozen yogurt place called 3 Spoons. She paid for everyone, too! Now I'm just chilling out in my dorm until my 5 o'clock Connections meeting.
Here's a picture from our scavenger hunt.

It's that time again..

Hello, world!
Not that I believe anyone is out there. Helloooo? (echoes, haha) I figured it was time for another update. Well, I am back in my home sweet home of Fort Smith. 45 minutes south really makes all the difference. I love it! I'm glad to be home this weekend. Fayetteville is kind of deserted anyway. I haven't felt very well today, but I'm feeling better. Must be the smell of this delicious candle that Auntie Sarah has lit. It's called "Winter," and they really hit the nail on the head with that name/scent. Today was an overall good    day. I enjoyed my anthropology class, as always. Okay, I can almost hear the yawns out there. I just don't have many interesting things to say.
Oh! Last night we had a spontaneous fire drill. Spontaneous in every sense of the word. There I was, in my dorm, chilling out and watching youtube videos. When all of the sudden, the alarm goes off, and the intercom comes on for us to evacuate. Really!? At 10:53? As it turns out, some silly boy on the other side of the building had a fog machine and it set the every-so-sensitive smoke detectors off. FAIL! I'm just glad I didn't get woken up to that.
And now, for your entertainment:

Boring Blog..

Hello again!
I'm kind of upset because I feel like my blog is so boring compared to the ones I read, but then again, most of the ones I read are mothers of small children or photographers or both, so they have plenty going on!
I'm going to try to keep it interesting. I'm also working on getting a cutie design/header thing. I'll let ya know how that goes.
Well, yesterday I had two test. I think I did average on both of them. Neither are really my strong subjects. Oh well, it happens. I had a headache all day though, so that didn't help. Probably pressure and stress. And my uncle said the FUNNIEST thing. I updated my status and it read, "Haley Herring has a headache and a test at 3:30." And he said, "I wish I could schedule MY headaches - wow! :)" I thought it was hilarious.
Oh! Last night I finally discovered how to wrap my hair up for sleeping. I know you could care less, but it was exciting! I had to watch 2 youtube videos and try a bazillion times, but I got it!
Now, I'm sitting in Mullins library like I do for pretty much all of my breaks. I'm putting of reading an article for my 11 o'clock class. Lovely. Haha!
Well, that's all I really have to say for now!
Later, Haley

It's Tuesday!

Do you know what that means!?! One of my favorite TV shows comes on, and I'm not talking about Glee! Although, I'm beginning to realize that's not such a bad show. It's...
Teen Mom!
I know, I know, but I really do like that show. And don't worry, I'm not getting any ideas! ;) My favorite mom is Maci. She's just the best, and that's all there is to it. And Amber is really starting to scare me. Honestly, I don't know how Gary puts up with it. He's a strong man. And the other two, ehh...they're good. Just not as entertaining to watch as the psycho-path. Okay, enough about that.
Let's see here. This week has been pretty good so far. I got my first anthropology exam back on Monday. 102%! Heck yeah! I got my history exam back today..not as good, but it could have been worse. I had a private lesson today. Dr. Gates is awesome. Anyone that knows him knows that. I think he thinks I don't listen to him, but I'm trying I swear! Haha. And our first symphony concert is on Monday. Woot! Lots to be excited about it seems. I'm wearing a new shirt today, too. :D
And now for some random pictures:
I really love this picture for some reason. Lol!

And I miss my little sister and brother :(
And I miss my mama, too.
That's all for now!

Home for the Weekend!

Well, I went home this weekend, and it was awesome. Except for one little thing...

I lost my student ID, room key, and fob (thing that lets me in the building). It was so stressful! I couldn't stop crying and I went on the search of a lifetime. Ahh! And poor Hannah got her house searched by me. :/ Needless to say, it wasn't there, and then I felt really bad.

Anyway....

I got home around 9 on Friday, and I stopped by my Aunt Sarah's for a second. Then I went to Hannah's because she was having a get-together in honor of her getting a new job. Woo! So, that was fun. Then on Saturday, I was planning on going to the mall to get some clothes out that I had in layaway at the Buckle, and I realized my little ID case with my cash, debit card, ID and all that was missing! And that's when I freaked. Mom loaned me the money though, and I eventually did find it this morning. Praise God! I am so grateful I found it. It would have been WAY too expensive to replace. And I still feel like a weirdo for going nuts, and almost filing a police report.

It was all worth it because I'm glad I got to see my family. I was really missing them. "Distance makes the heart grow fonder." Haha! And I'm grateful Sarah came to get me :).

More to come soon,
Haley

New to Blogging

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

This is sooo exciting. I've been reading blogs for years, and now I finally have one! I'm starting this blog for the same reason that many people start blogs. So that my family can keep up with me and know what's going on without too much effort on my end :). This way, I don't have to tell the same stories over and over, and I can share pictures with the masses. Lol! I thought it was a great idea, personally.

Well, let's see. I've had a great time in college so far. I went to the highly publicized Arkansas v. Alabama game. It was pretty in-tents (haha, get it?). I camped out for 2 nights. The first one was pretty wet, and the second one was pretty cold. I wouldn't trade it though because I had a great time with my friends. And now for some pictures I took from Facebook.
Me and Andie

Me and Shannon

Can ya tell how tired I was? Hehe.

In other news, I have two mentors. One for the Connections program, and one for my scholarship. I haven't really done much with that yet, though. However, I am excited.
My mom came to see me on Tuesday, and we had lunch at Olive Garden. It was a fabulous time!
I'm going home today, for the weekend! Yay! It's been a few weeks.
Well, not too much else is going on. I'll start doing some back tracking here soon.

Later, Haley
